This is for all you experienced teachers.

If you could give a new teacher just one piece of advice, what would that be? One gem that might help save their "butt" or just allow them to enjoy their time teaching a little more. What would you advise in 50 words or less?

My own -- Don't "be yourself" but be whatever it takes to get the students to learn.

Always carry a back-up lesson plan. I have a box o' stuff I keep just in case my lesson doesn't turn out to be quite as wonderful as I thought it would be. I guarantee, one day, your lesson will fall flat, and an hour will feel like five if you have no back-up plan. Preparing for a class is like preparing for a stage play; improvisation will invariably be required.
