What makes TEFList different?

TEFList is the first ELT job website using the full power and range of Web 2.0 to connect teachers and employers.  We are the only job website to allow members to upload / embed and use video to advertise.  On TEFList, all the jobs on the internet come to you and members can easily undertake a job or teacher search.  Further, beyond our technical expertise, we at TEFList are intimately involved in education and can assure our members that we understand their industry, since we're a part of it day-to-day.

Who Created TEFList?

TEFList is the creation of two hard-working teachers. Dmitry, the technological wizard who has brought EFL lots of other fine apps, and David, a teacher trainer who brings his caring and hard working philosophy to TEFList from EFL Classroom 2.0, his online teaching community. We should also note that TEFList was assembled by a small group of wonderful software developers and website designers, iCreative Labs.  You get more info on our ABOUT US page.

Why are some jobs blue and some jobs gold?

Blue jobs are external jobs, that have come to us from other website.  Each of those jobs has an info box below, from which you can click to get more information about the site where it originated.  Gold jobs are jobs posted directly on TEFlist. For those jobs, you can get comprehensive details about the job ad, the employer, and everything else you care to know.  You can even contact the employer directly through TEFList, or watch their intro video.  Whether the jobs you are seeing are blue or gold, you can search and find them all on TEFList, and you can save them in your TEFList profile to, for easy reference later. Light blue jobs will also start to appear and will indicate that the job is from a recruiter. This will be more full developed in the near future.

How many jobs are there on TEFList?

We aim to be a site with just about ALL the current English Language Teaching jobs on the internet. At the top of the TEFList front page, you will see the total number of jobs on TEFList at that very minute.  If that number seems a bit low, it's because we purge old job ads from our database every 30 days.  That ensures that the ads you're seeing on TEFList are always ones you can apply for - no ancient jobs wasting your time.  Also, above the latest jobs scroller on the front page, you will see all the jobs posted in the last 24 hours.

How do I search for jobs?

We believe that making the search easy and fast is our best feature for teachers! You have several choices.
  1. Search by entering a search term in the Search Bar on the main page.
  2. Scroll through jobs on our Latest Jobs Page.  All jobs clicked here can be saved for later view by you (registration is required if you'd like to save the jobs to your profile).
  3. If you've have already searched for a job, just hover your mouse over the yellow search term at the top of the page. A search bar will appear above it so that you can enter a new search term.  If you are looking at a list of jobs for a particular country or region, just do the same (hover your mouse over the gold country name at the top of the page), and a map will appear over that area that will let you search for a new region.

Can I search for all the jobs from an external site by entering that site's name?

No problem.  Our search ability is second to none. Simply put in the site’s name and hit "Search”.

What does "email me when there are updates to this page” mean?

Any time you perform a search, we automatically create an RSS page of your search results. If you subscribe to the updates for your search term, you will be sent an email when any new jobs are posted for your search term.  For example, let's say you want a university job and you search for "university”, and you get 100 results. If you click "email me when there are updates to this page”, we will send you an email whenever there are any new jobs for "university”.  So, if tomorrow there are 102 university jobs, you will have received 2 extra emails from us to let you know the very second they were posted on the internet.  We bring the jobs to you!

What is that "We Support" logo on the main page?

That is our chosen charity. 10% of all purchases on TEFList go directly to our favorite charity. Please visit this wonderful organization which helps education. By using TEFList, you are helping others and we feel a strong commitment to making TEFList an organization and community that cares.

Why do some parts say "BETA"?

ALPHA & BETA are the periods of time when we will be making changes and getting feedback from users about problems or new functionality. Please tell us what you like and don’t like by contacting us. You can click on the link in the footer, or go to our "About Us" page. The BETA period is completely free for all users: teachers and employers. We want to show you what TEFList can do without making you pay for anything.

Do I need to register?

No, you don’t.  We want all jobs to be seen by the whole world.  Anyone can use TEFList without signing in. However, you won’t be able to see resumes of members or contact employers directly. And of course, unless you register and create a profile, there's no place for you to save jobs or have a profile and presence.

How do I register if I want to?

Simply click on the LOG IN / REGISTER button in the top right corner of any page. Fill in your username and password and you are good to go.  You will be sent a confirmation email but you can start using TEFList right away!

What happens after I register?

After you register, you can contact all employers. You also get a personal resume profile page. Fill in your personal details and let employers know who you are! You can upload photos and record a video introduction to gain the attention of employers. After finding jobs you like, contact employers directly and even send your resume page around the online English Teaching universe! Finally, when not looking for a job, remember to deactivate your profile and make it private.  It can stay this way until you start looking for your next job, and you won't have to re-enter any of your info. Your profile will remain 100% offline until you restart your job search.

What is the TEFList forum?

When you register, you’ll be sent an invitation to the TEFList forum. The forum is meant as a place where members can discuss jobs, give job tips, help each other and also talk about any thing they want. By sharing, we make our jobs easier. The TEFList forum registers you instantly and you can be posting within minutes. We will never censor users who talk about jobs, recruiters, and employers.  We hate forums that do that. So, feel free to say what you like!

Simply click, "Apply Instantly”(you’ll have to be logged in). Leave the employer or recruiter a letter of introduction. What is "My Dashboard”?

Your dashboard is your central hub for jobs. From there, you can save all the jobs you like and instantly compare them. You can scroll and search jobs using our scroll bar. You can also access your email inbox, edit you profile your TEFList account settings. This is your home base and you can always get back there by clicking "return to my homepage”, under the LOG IN / LOG OUT button at the top right of the page.

Why does it say my, "Profile is xx% completed”?

We encourage all members to fill out their full profile. This allows teachers and employers to better search for information that can make finding the right school or teacher much easier. So please fill out your profile and help others find you!  A profile that's 80% complete is a lot more likely to get a response than one that's only 10% complete.

Can I delete or deactivate my profile and/or account?

Definitely. You have 100% control of everything about yourself. Go to the "settings” page from your Dashboard and deactivate (temporarily make your profile private) or delete your account.   We hate to see you go, but we hate those that lock you in even more!

TEFList is absolutely free for any teacher!  We want your interest and involvement in our community. The only service that teachers can choose to pay for is a small fee to be "bumped up” in the search rankings to get yourself noticed right away by employers. That’s all.
